performance based pistol foundations

A good foundation of the fundamentals is essential before beginning to move and shoot. Being able to shoot with speed and accuracy while standing still is the slab that the house is built on. Moving and shooting is the roof. Grip, vision, confirmation levels trigger break entries/exits, target transitions have to be running on autopilot in the background when you start moving. This class helps build that foundation of the concepts mentioned through focused drills. Movement will be added at the end of the day to bring all the concepts together. An emphasis will be placed on the student being able to start self-identifying mistakes and begin shot calling.

Why the Fundamentals?

Just like in sports and martial arts, the fundamentals are the most important part of skill development. For example, football teams don’t scrimmage each practice for the entire practice then expect to perform on game day. Teams isolate the skills at each position and develop drills to master those skills at every layer. The drills build on one another until they are ready to be combined on gameday. Receivers drill agility, speed, catching, route running then rep with the quarterback to develop chemistry before scrimmaging at game speed. Developing well rounded shooters is no different. SWAT members focus on and start each range day with some of the fundamental drills in this class.
